Flying Ant Infestations in Sale, Timperley and Altrincham.
Flying ants are the scourge of many people in summer leaving many people to hate the summer and the annual flying ants invasion which they expect the summer will bring
Only the unfortunate people who have suffered it will know the true effects of flying ants in their homes.
Having an infestation of ordinary wingless ants is bad enough but when they go through their annual mating phase the position can become unbearable.
Ants regularly form colonies under the floors and in the wall cavities of our houses and these colonies will continue for many years to come if left untreated becoming progressively more annoying as the years go on.
Our dwellings are warm and dry and provide the ideal places for a growing ant colony; even solid asphalt floor is not a barrier to an ant.
Our home heating systems keeps their metabolism even in the winter months and my earliest ant job was on my birthday, in January!
Ants like a sandy soil and there are plenty areas in Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester which have more ant problems than most, Southport, Blackpool, Bolton, Sale & Altrincham come to mind as regular ant locations.
Unfortunately it is when they are in their mating time that they are most annoying. Here in Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester this often is pretty regularly around the middle of July.
Ants mate in flight and sometime around mid-summer the colony produces winged immature Queens and flying males which in nature would fly off and mate in the air. Many thousands of these flying ants are produced per colony and nests tend to synchronise their release in order to mate with ants from neighbouring.
Often this process starts after a few of days of hot, dry weather and will often last for about acouple of weeks although smaller releases will carry on throughout most of June, July & August.
Unfortunately when the colony is built under the floor of the property the effects can be devastating, literally thousands of winged ants are released into the lower rooms, collecting on windows as they make for the light.
This can be extremely distressing for some people leading to extreme emotional upset to the degree that people learn to hate the summertime and have actually left their house to avoid the plague of ants which they know will inevitably appear each summer.
The colder summers of the last three years has meant that ant call-outs were down on previous years but ants appear to have a way of catching up and 2010 looks set to be a particularly good year for them.
Most people who have this problem opt for DIY solutions with powders from hardware stores etc but mostly these efforts do not work as they are not getting to the heart of the infestation which is the colony itself, tucked safely in the cavity wall or sub-floor area.
Fortunately for a lot of people help.
At Harrier Pest Prevention (subject to site survey) we are able to remedy this problem and issue an extendable three year guarantee.
The process which is done mostly from the outside of the home, is totally safe for animals and children and leaves no smell, involves drilling little holes into the cavity walls of the property, not unlike a damp-course injection and blowing a long lasting insecticide into the cavity wall under pressure.
This forms an uncrossable barrier over which the ants cannot go and along with a precautionary spray of the inside (if deemed necessary) will slowly bring the problem under control.
The holes, which are only 8mm in diameter remain open so it is simply a matter of topping up the wall cavities every three years to extend the effectiveness of the guarantee in three year terms.
This treatment is best carried out in the early spring however it can be done at any time of year.
As a very limited time offer in our quiet period we are offering 25 percent off the normalstandard price until May 30 2010. Whilst we normally cover the whole of Lancashire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester, we are willing to venture further afield but this will be reflected in the cost.
